Hundreds of people from the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI) led by Yudi and April demonstrated in front of the Sate Building, the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) office, Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Bandung City, Monday (26/9/2022).
The protesters carried banners that read, sustainable forests, prosperous people. Stop immorality in the forest. Land for the people. Fertile land, barren justice. Serlok justice for forest farmers. Fertilizer is difficult, I can't stand it.
Yudi's speech asked the government, especially the Governor and the West Java DPRD to issue a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) and regional regulation (perda) regarding the financing scheme as well as the determination of object land, agrarian reform and social forestry in West Java.
"Conduct a restructuring of the Agrarian Reform Task Force Team in the provinces and regencies/cities in West Java," requested Yudi.
He urged immediate identification of control, utilization of ownership, and management of land on abandoned plantation ex-cultivation rights (HGU) and forest areas under special management.
"We are asking for clarity on the Agrarian Reform Law for farmers in improving their welfare," said Yudi.
The demonstrators met with the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, to ensure that farmers could prosper.
"The West Java Provincial Government and I as governor will definitely not stay long and will become farmers," he explained.
