Mojokerto, March 19, 2023. Relentless efforts in implementing the practice of protecting community-managed areas, both in terms of power, governance, production, and consumption, one of which is through the social forestry scheme. In the implementation of social forestry, the community is the main stakeholder in the management of this forest, taking an active role in maintaining environmental sustainability, social, and economic, and reducing the impact of climate change. The Forest Farmer Group and the Forest Village Community Institution from Padusan Village, Mojokerto Regency and Cipalabuh Village, Lebak Regency, which are the declarants of the Indonesian social forestry management association, work together to carry out reforestation actions with the theme of Community-Managed Areas as a Climate Solution.
"This activity is a joint work of social forestry groups that are members of AP2SI and the AP2SI Management Board and the Village Government, in addition to of course involving youth groups in the village, this reforestation action activity was carried out in 3 villages in West Java, Banten, and East Java, a total of 1,275 seedlings were planted with fruit and wood which of course are expected in the future to provide direct benefits for the group," said Roni, who is the General Chairperson of AP2SI.
Syaiful Anam, one of the administrators of the Makmur Rimba Forest Farmers Group, Padusan Village, Mojokerto Regency, said that today's reforestation activity (19/3/2023) with Multi Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) plants was an activity that the group carried out because it was an implementation of the existing social forestry work plan, with one of the goals being to enrich the types of plants in the community-managed area through this social forestry scheme and in the long term it is hoped that it can contribute to climate change mitigation.
Muslihudin, who is the head of the LMDH Pesona Alam Lestari, Padusan Village, also added, "This is a real action to continue to protect the forest ecosystem in the community-managed area because we are very aware that forests provide benefits so they must continue to be cared for, maintained, and developed through this activity, which is one of the promotions carried out to inspire the parties."
Appreciation was also conveyed to the social forestry group in Padusan Village and AP2SI by Mrs. Iriani as the head of Padusan Village who also attended the reforestation action activity "This is an extraordinary joint work activity where the group carries out the principle of sharing roles and sharing responsibilities for the progress of the group and of course this will have a positive impact on the village in the future, I call this activity a gradual but concrete step to prove efforts to protect the community's managed areas through this social forestry," she said.
