TYPE, MOJOKERTO – The Social Forestry Program will begin a new chapter. The community will soon receive forest management rights and forest management training. The new chapter will begin in Pacet, Mojokerto, May 23-26, 2023.
The activity began with the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Prof. Siti Nurbaya Bakar opening the AP2SI (Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association) Social Forestry Festival, inaugurating and signing the KUPS Environmental Services inscription from 4 KPS on Tuesday (23/5/2023). After opening the event, the Minister of LHK reviewed a number of booths from various provinces.
The Head of AP2SI East Java, Slamet, said that the Social Forestry Program was carried out based on the Ministerial Regulation of the Environment and Forestry Number 4/2023 concerning Social Forestry in KHDPK. Based on the Ministerial Regulation of the Environment and Forestry 4/2023, the social forestry program covers an area of 1.1 million hectares.
''For the Mojokerto area there are 3,900 hectares of land. Well, the President plans to symbolically hand over the Social Forestry Decree,'' he said.
In addition to the Social Forestry Festival, a series of activities for 4 days will be held at the Padusan Tourism Park, Pacet, including the National Social Forestry Seminar with the theme Social Forestry as a Source of Livelihood, Product Market and Social Forestry Product Exhibition, Business Meeting, and Social Forestry Management Training Workshop.
In addition, there will be the 1st AP2SI National Seminar attended by the AP2SI Member Forum and 17 supporting institutions from 18 provinces.
Slamet explained that in the Social Forestry Festival, communities that are united in Forest Farmer Groups (KTH) will receive training on good forest management.
It is stated that in Permen 4/2023, the community can apply for Village Forest (HD), HKM (Community Forest), and HTR (People's Forest). For Village Forest, those who can apply are village forest institutions.
''It will later become a village managed asset, the submission must also go through the village regulation. So there must be a village regulation,'' he added.
Social Forestry applications can also be submitted by forest farmer groups (KTH) cooperatives in villages or by individuals. ''But applications by individuals have certain requirements, for example, already experienced in managing forests, applications are in groups, at least 15 people,'' he said. (*)
