Mojokerto – The Mojokerto Regency Government is pleased to welcome the arrival of the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI) in organizing the Social Forestry Festival. This festival was held in Padusan Village, Pacet District on May 23-26, 2023.
"This is an important moment for environmental conservation efforts and improving community welfare," said Mojokerto Regent Ikfina Fahmawati, Tuesday (23/5/2023).
The event was attended by various important figures, including the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya Bakar, environmental activists, the Head of the East Java Forestry Service, Jumadi, and the community around the Padusan Pacet Mojokerto forest.
Regent Ikfina expressed his appreciation for the holding of the Social Forestry Festival in Padusan Village.
"We really appreciate the holding of the Social Forestry Festival in Padusan Pacet. Through this festival, we hope to strengthen the role of the community in preserving the forest and improving their welfare," explained Ikfina.
The Social Forestry Festival themed “Social Forestry as a Source of Life” has a diverse agenda of activities. One of them is the consolidation of membership levels which aims to strengthen the relationship between AP2SI members. In addition, this festival will also pay special attention to improving family resources, preserving the environment, improving the economy for members, and showcasing the potential of each Forest Management Unit (KPH) institution.
Mojokerto Regent, Ikfina Fahmawati, gave her full support for the holding of this festival in Padusan Village. "We fully support the holding of the Social Forestry Festival in Padusan Village. We hope that farmers and forest managers can achieve prosperity and economic independence," she said.
Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar, also shared her views on social forestry. She said that social forestry must have a positive impact on the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), agriculture, banking, and tourism sectors. To realize this, attention also needs to be given to adequate facilities and infrastructure.
"Later, there will be MSMEs, tourism, agriculture, banking that can be developed by the community," he explained.
Not to be missed, every Forest Management Unit (KPH) institution present at this festival also showcased its potential. From quality forest products to technological innovations in natural resource management, each exhibition is expected to provide new insights and inspire visitors.
Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar, also shared her views on social forestry as a source of life. She emphasized the importance of integrating economic, environmental, and social aspects in social forestry practices. In her speech, she said that this festival is also a forum to create investment and marketing opportunities for communities living around the forest. By providing the right capital and support, it is hoped that the community's economy can grow productively.
"We want the communities around the forest to be empowered, independent and have an improved economy," he explained.
Social Forestry Festival in Mojokerto in an effort to maintain forest sustainability. He said the festival is also a forum to create investment and marketing opportunities for communities living around the forest.
"Mr. Jokowi's message is that the people in the forest must also be prosperous. By providing the right capital and support, it is hoped that the community's economy can grow productively," he said.
