The Nusantara Lestari Ecology Foundation (EKONESIA) together with the Uwempane Forest Farmer Group (KTH) of Pulu Village, held a "Camping, Meeting and Dialogue on Social Forestry Management" activity in Pulu Village, South Dolo, Sigi Regency, on January 29, 2024.
The activity was combined with the declaration of the formation of the Central Sulawesi Province Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI).
The activity was supported by the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI), WALHI and WALHI Central Sulawesi. With the aim that AP2SI at the Central Sulawesi Provincial level can form its management.
During the dialogue session related to social forestry, BPSKL Sulawesi Section II Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi stated that until now the total area of social forestry throughout Indonesia that has obtained permits is 6.4 million hectares, which has been utilized by more than 1 million Heads of Families. Meanwhile, the POKJA PS Central Sulawesi revealed that the achievement of social forestry in Central Sulawesi is currently more than 95,000 hectares, with a total number of permit decisions of 188.
The Central Sulawesi PS Working Group also stated that for Pulu Village, there is an area allocation of around 500 hectares that has been included in the Indicative Map of Social Forestry Directions (PIAPS). So that the community and government of Pulu Village can take advantage of this opportunity to gain access to forest management through the social forestry scheme. Meanwhile, KPH Kulawi as a stakeholder in forest management in Dolo Selatan District expressed its support for KTH Uwempane and the Pulu Village government if they wish to submit a social forestry proposal.
The Dolo Selatan Sub-district Head who was present to open the event expressed his support for the good and positive initiatives carried out by various parties. He hopes that the activities in Pulu Village through KTH Uwempane can provide social, environmental and economic benefits to the local community.
On the other hand, EKONESIA Executive Director Azmi Sirajuddin hopes that collaboration with various parties can help efforts to protect the landscape, species and ecosystem in Pulu Village so that they can be maintained and sustainable.
Besides of course hoping for support from all parties to improve the economic level of the Pulu Village community through agroforestry activities that are currently being promoted in the area.
Before the declaration, the participants visited the Kaliali hot spring location, which is a natural tourist destination in Pulu Village. Kaliali hot spring is very unique because it has two springs that have masculine and feminine properties, so it is called by the locals as "Kaliali", which means two directions or two sources.
