Bararawa – December 5, 2024, Held in the Barawa village hall, Paminggir sub-district, Hulu Sungai Utara district, South Kalimantan, the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association of South Kalimantan (AP2SI Kalsel) together with the TIFA Foundation held a Socialization and workshop on Strengthening the Implementation of Wanamina/Silvofishery in Village Forest Management in Bararawa Village and Sapala Village which was attended by Representatives of the Kalimantan Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership Center, WALHI South Kalimantan, Balangan Forest Management Unit, Fisheries Service of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, Bararawa Village Government, Sapala Village Government, Bararawa Village Forest Management Institution, Sapala Village Forest Management Institution, and the Rawa Maju LPHD Bararawa Social Forestry Business Group and the Rawa Sejahtera LPHD Sapala Social Forestry Business Group.
This activity was motivated by the need for LPHD Bararawa and Sapala to implement the Social Forestry Management Plan/RKPS which is an obligation as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. 9 of 2021. In this workshop, a presentation was delivered regarding plans for institutional strengthening, business development, and collaboration mechanisms between parties in the context of supporting aquaculture/silvofishery business practices for the Rawa Maju LPHD Bararawa Rawa Sejahtera LPHD Sapala Social Forestry Business Group, then continued with a discussion to strengthen social forestry management in these two villages.
"This is a strategic step to encourage the management of Village Forests which not only provides economic benefits for the community, but also maintains the very important function of the peat swamp ecosystem," said the AP2SI representative.
With increasingly strong collaboration, it is hoped that the development of aquaculture/silvofishery businesses in Bararawa Village and Sapala Village will be able to become a model for the success of fair and sustainable community-based forest management.
At the end of the workshop, the parties signed the minutes of support for Strengthening the Implementation of Wanamina/Silvofishery in Village Forest Management in Bararawa Village and Sapala Village as well as the integrity facts between the parties.
