SAMPANKALIMANTAN.ID – The Forest Management Unit (KPH) Unit XXXIII of the Kubu Raya Region together with SAMPAN Kalimantan made a prominent appearance in the 2025 National Social Forestry Festival (PESONA) held by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.
The festival, held from August 20–22, 2025, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building Complex in Jakarta, carries the theme "Caring for Forests, Passing on Hope." The annual event serves as a collaborative space for various parties, including ministries and institutions, local governments, Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS), academics, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
The participation of KPH Kubu Raya and SAMPAN Kalimantan carries an important message: maintaining forest sustainability can go hand in hand with improving community welfare through the management of non-timber forest products (NTFPs).
Appreciation from the Expert Staff of the Ministry of Forestry
In an interview with the SAMPAN Kalimantan Media team, Novia Widyaningtyas, S.Hut., M.Sc, Expert Staff to the Indonesian Minister of Forestry, expressed her appreciation for the successful collaboration between the Kubu Raya Forest Management Unit (KPH) and SAMPAN Kalimantan in the Social Forestry program.
"I am very proud and pleased to be at the booth of our friends at SAMPAN Kalimantan and the Kubu Raya Forest Management Unit (KPH) as representatives of West Kalimantan. This is an example of the success of the Social Forestry program in West Kalimantan," said Novia on Thursday (August 21, 2025) at the Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta.
Novia emphasized that this success was inseparable from the synergy between the Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD), KPH Kubu Raya, and SAMPAN Kalimantan assistance, as well as support from PT Belantara Sejahtera Mandiri (BSM).
"This is an excellent example of collaboration. Hopefully, it can continue and be even more successful in the future. Hopefully, the results will be contagious and other social forestry groups can also move up a level," he added.
At this festival, the Kubu Raya Forest Management Unit (KPH) and SAMPAN Kalimantan showcased various non-timber forest products, such as honey, spices, processed foods, and silvopasture and agroforestry products. All of these products are produced by assisted community groups that utilize forest resources without damaging the ecosystem.
This approach aligns with the goals of Social Forestry, namely managing forests sustainably while providing economic benefits to surrounding communities. The products also received a positive response from festival attendees, including ministry officials, academics, and general consumers.
