Banten –February 13, 2026 – The Maju Berkah Forest Farmers Group (KTH), located in Cipalabuh Village, Cijaku District, Lebak Regency, Banten, is now expanding its business by cultivating Cavendish bananas. This step was taken as an effort to capitalize on promising sustainable business opportunities in the modern market.
Cavendish bananas were chosen because of their high market value and high demand among consumers in supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, and the food processing industry. Furthermore, Cavendish banana cultivation is relatively easy and can be integrated with the agroforestry system implemented by KTH Maju Berkah.
Rohim, a member of the Maju Berkah Community Farming Group (KTH Maju Berkah), stated that cultivating Cavendish bananas is a strategic step to increase income. "We see significant opportunities in the Cavendish banana market. With good quality and competitive prices, we are confident we can compete with other farmers," he said.
Besides providing economic benefits, Cavendish banana cultivation also aligns with sustainability principles. We are committed to using organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides in our cultivation process, as well as preserving the surrounding environment.
Meanwhile, Hasan, the administrator of AP2SI Banten said that his party and the administrators continue to communicate with the MBG kitchen managers in the South Lebak area to establish communication so that local products can enter and be accepted in the MBG kitchen, so that Cavendish banana farmers in the area under their supervision can develop further and the existence of this MBG kitchen can be felt by local residents or farmers.
“"We hope the government can issue direct instructions so that MBG kitchens can accept local products as long as they meet standards. We don't want these kitchen owners to buy all their ingredients and needs from large markets, leaving local products overlooked. There are also ingredients that can be sourced through collaboration with local MSMEs or farmers. This is so that local farmers and MSMEs can benefit from the MBG program," he said.
The success of the Maju Berkah Farming Group (KTH Maju Berkah) in cultivating Cavendish bananas is expected to inspire other farming groups in the Lebak area and its surroundings.
