The Maju Berkah Cipalabuh Community Forestry Group Successfully Utilizes Social Forestry: Agroforestry Boosts the Economy and Conservation

Banten, February 13, 2026 – The Maju Berkah Forest Farmers Group (KTH), located in Cipalabuh Village, Cijaku District, Lebak Regency, Banten, has successfully utilized the Social Forestry program by planting agroforestry crops on approximately 30 hectares of land managed by its members. This initiative aims to improve the welfare of KTH members while preserving the environment.

The government's Social Forestry Program provides opportunities for communities surrounding forests to manage forest land sustainably. The Maju Berkah Forest Management Group (KTH) sees this as a strategic step to increase its members' incomes.

“"We are very grateful for this Social Forestry program. By planting agroforestry crops, we not only get a marketable harvest, but we also contribute to forest preservation," said Jai, Head of the Maju Berkah Community Forestry Group.

The agroforestry crops planted by members of the Maju Berkah Community Forest Management Group (KTH Maju Berkah) include coffee, durian, avocado, banana, timber, and cassava. In addition to providing economic benefits, these crops also serve as conservation crops, helping prevent erosion and maintain soil fertility.

Jai added, "However, we also face many obstacles in developing land management, one of which is capital. Hopefully, in the future, there will also be assistance from the government for our members."“

Jamri, a KTH member who is currently planting durian, also expressed his gratitude to the government. "I am very grateful to the government for granting us permission to legally manage the forest. I hope this forest utilization permit will continue to be enjoyed by us and our children and grandchildren," he said.

The success of the Maju Berkah Community Forestry Group (KTH Maju Berkah) in utilizing this Social Forestry program is expected to serve as an example for other forest farmer groups in the Lebak area and surrounding areas. With sustainable and continuous forest management, it is hoped that the welfare of the surrounding communities will improve while simultaneously preserving the environment.
