Hammer, true story.id – To Pekurehua Wanua Watutau Indigenous Community, Lore Peore District, Lore Peore Regency Poso, began to develop community work programs to strengthen the protection of customary areas and community independence.
The program was developed through a workshop held on May 7–8, 2026, at Baruga, Watutau Village. The event was facilitated by the Association of Forest Management. Social Forestry Indonesia Central Sulawesi together with the BIJAK Foundation, Participatory Mapping Service Center (SLPP) Central Sulawesi, and the People's Education Foundation (YPR).
The workshop was attended by elements of traditional institutions, village governments, community leaders, women, youth, and civil society organizations.
Over two days, participants discussed various challenges faced by indigenous communities, ranging from territorial protection to natural resource management based on local wisdom.
Watutau Indigenous Community Leader Christian Toibo said the workshop was not just about compiling a list of activities, but also a shared space to strengthen the direction of the indigenous community's struggle.
“"This workshop provides a shared space to safeguard the territory, identity, and future of the indigenous community," he said.
However, indigenous communities still maintain a regional management system based on customs, mutual cooperation, and environmental sustainability.
Meanwhile, the Central Sulawesi AP2SI Provincial Management Board, Bonar Adrian Barau, emphasized that the activity was also a step to encourage the recognition and protection of indigenous legal communities by the regional government in accordance with the mechanisms regulated in Home Affairs Ministerial Regulation Number 52 of 2014.
