Between the Land Bank and TNLL, the community develops a program for the Watutau Indigenous Community.

RADAR PALU – The To Pekurehua Wanua Watutau Indigenous Community in Lore Peore District, Poso Regency, has begun developing strategic steps to strengthen the protection of its customary territory and ensure community independence. This effort was carried out through a two-day Work Program Development Workshop, held from May 7–8, 2026, at the Baruga Village in Watutau.

This activity was held by the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI) of Central Sulawesi in collaboration with the Bumi Hijau Khatulistiwa Foundation (BIJAK), the Central Sulawesi Participatory Mapping Service Center (SLPP), and the People's Education Foundation (YPR).

The workshop served as a platform for consolidating indigenous communities in formulating the direction of their struggle, from strengthening customary institutions and protecting their territories to developing an economy based on local wisdom and environmental sustainability.

Participants included representatives from traditional institutions, village governments, community leaders, women, youth, and civil society organizations. During the event, participants discussed and mapped the potential, challenges, and threats faced by indigenous communities in defending their living spaces.

Watutau Indigenous Community Leader Christian Toibo said the workshop was not just about developing an agenda, but also a joint step in strengthening the indigenous community's struggle to preserve their identity and territory.

“"This workshop is not just about compiling a list of activities, but also about creating a shared space to strengthen the direction of indigenous communities' struggle to safeguard their territories, identities, and the future of their generations," he said.
