The Ngudi Makmur Forest Farmers Group (KTH) of Malang Regency successfully carried out the development of local tourism potential and barista training at 3 in 1 beach on Thursday to Sunday, February 22-25, 2024. This activity is a form of awareness and effort from KTH Banturejo together with the local community in realizing a more innovative tourist spot.
Initially, this activity was initiated by KTH Ngudi Makmur chaired by Muhammad Zainul Afkar by absorbing evaluations from various parties. By involving village youth and the community who wanted to jointly develop tourism potential, finally at that time the concept of beach tourism was created which presented a special coffee menu on the southern coast.
"We want to develop the potential of the beaches in Malang, especially the south coast, on the other hand, we must have innovation to attract tourists so that they don't get bored with the same old views," said Zainul.
In developing this tourism, KTH Ngudi Makmur has formed a new innovative activity that has never been developed before, namely by providing barista training to several village youths to hone their skills in mixing coffee. Zainul believes that this is the first step in innovation in attracting tourists. He explained that this barista training is expected to increase the knowledge of the youth who are participants in the training.
The training held for approximately four days has contributed knowledge and insight to participants so that they can further improve the local economy. In its implementation, the provision of materials is divided into several times. On the first day, participants are taught theoretically about the existing world of coffee, on the next day participants are taught how to make coffee in various variants, in other words, they practice directly.
During the implementation, they also gained new knowledge from The Local Enablers (TLE) about packaging entrepreneurial products. The next day, they were facilitated with a sales booth to practice all the knowledge they had learned since the beginning.
During the learning process, participants not only learned about the concept of coffee but they were also invited to discuss things that could be developed, one of which was by creating a tourism zoning scheme. The participants, who were dominated by young people, also participated in providing their contributions regarding which places were very potential to be used as parking lots, hangouts, camp areas and corners of the location that have superior views.
This kind of barista training is considered by Zainul as a turning point for innovation and development of local potential so that in the future it can provide more bargaining power for tourists who want to visit. In addition, he also said that this kind of activity does not only end here, he hopes that all parties involved can also cooperate in the succession of upgrading existing potential.
In the final session of the interview, he also had great hopes, Zainul explained that he hoped that in the future there would be more parties involved like AP2SI which had helped KTH Ngudi Makmur in supporting and finding networks.
Zainul said, "Of course we really hope that all parties and especially AP2SI can continue to help in developing local potential. AP2SI has also made a big contribution in monitoring and helping to find networks. On the other hand, hopefully in the future the southern coastal area will also receive more attention from the government so that it can improve infrastructure such as highways and other things that can support local economic potential."
