AP2SI South Kalimantan Holds Regional Working Meeting to Improve Community-Based Forest Governance

Sapala, December 18, 2024 – The Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association of South Kalimantan (AP2SI Kalsel) held a Regional Working Meeting (Rakerda) as a form of commitment to strengthening fair and sustainable community-based forest governance. This Rakerda is the implementation of the organization's mandate according to the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART), with the main objective of reflecting on performance, evaluating the role of the organization, and preparing the 2024-2027 Regional Work Plan. AP2SI Kalsel, which was established and declared on November 27, 2022, continues to strive to make real contributions to the environment, society, and economy of the community through community-based forest management.

This activity is an important momentum to identify achievements and challenges faced over the past two years, as well as formulate future strategies. In the Rakerda, a number of main agendas were discussed, including reflection and evaluation of performance, strategic planning, institutional strengthening, and policy advocacy that supports the development of social forestry at the regional and national levels. By involving the management and member institutions consisting of the AP2SI South Kalimantan Provincial Management Board, the AP2SI South Kalimantan Provincial Supervisory Board, LPHD Sapala, LPHD Bararawa, LPHD Nateh, LPHD Haratai and the WALHI South Kalimantan Regional Executive, AP2SI South Kalimantan targets strengthening collaboration and more effective resource management to ensure the sustainability of work programs.

Through this Rakerda, AP2SI South Kalimantan affirms its role as a forum that fights for community interests in inclusive and sustainable forest governance. The results of this activity are expected to be a relevant roadmap to increase organizational capacity, strengthen policy advocacy, and encourage active participation in forest resource management in South Kalimantan.
