Jakarta, January 8, 2025 – The West Kalimantan Provincial Management Board of the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI), represented by Mr. Angger and Mr. Mukhlas, together with the AP2SI National Supervisory Board, Mr. Rusdiyanto, and the AP2SI National Management Board, Mr. Roni Usman K, held an audience with the Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships of the Ministry of Forestry (KEMENHUT), Mr. Dr. Ir. Mahfudz, MP. The meeting, which took place on the 11th floor of the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Jakarta, aimed to strengthen synergy in the management of social forestry in West Kalimantan.
The Chairman of AP2SI West Kalimantan, Mr. Angger, said that this audience was an initial step to build synergy and collaboration with the central government in order to support the acceleration of the implementation of social forestry management.
"AP2SI West Kalimantan, which was just formed on October 30, 2024, consists of 16 Village Forest Management Institutions (LPHD) and two supporting institutions, namely SAMPAN and Yayasan Rumah Hijau. We are committed to accelerating social forestry governance while addressing challenges in community-based natural resource management," explained Angger, who is also the Head of LPHD Sungai Bemban.
Director General of Social Forestry, Mr. Dr.Ir.Mahfudz,MP, expressed his appreciation for the initiative and commitment of AP2SI West Kalimantan. In his direction, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, the community, and organizations such as AP2SI to maintain forest sustainability while improving community welfare.
"Close collaboration is key to ensuring environmental sustainability and social and economic balance. Strengthening institutional capacity and developing forest-based businesses are important steps that must be taken by AP2SI West Kalimantan," said the Director General of PSKL.
This meeting is expected to be the beginning of ongoing communication and coordination between AP2SI West Kalimantan and the central government in implementing community-based forest management activities. AP2SI West Kalimantan is optimistic that this synergy will have a positive impact, both in preserving the forest ecosystem and empowering local communities in the area.
