Sukarame–Cikawao, January 7–9, 2026
Efforts to strengthen the economic resilience of social forestry-based coffee farmers continue to be carried out through the Coffee Farmer Capacity Building activity which was held for three days, on January 7-9, 2026, at the Sukarame Village Hall, Bandung Regency.
This activity began on January 7, 2026 with an Opening Ceremony attended by various cross-sector stakeholders, including the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate of Agricultural Financing, the Forestry Service Branch of Region V, the Head of Cikawao Village, the Head of Sukarame Village, the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (BPN AP2SI), Zurich Syariah, and KitaBisa.org.
A total of 20 participants attended the event, consisting of 10 Chairmen and Members of the Mulyatani IV Farming Group (KPS) in Cikawao Village and 10 Chairmen and Members of the Mulyatani VII Farming Group (KTH) in Sukarame Village. The participants represented recipients of the Parametric Insurance Program, a collaboration between Zurich Syariah and KitaBisa.org, aimed at strengthening farmer protection against climate risks and crop failure.
On January 8, 2026, the training continued with Parametric Insurance and Farm Management training. The Parametric Insurance material was delivered directly by Zurich Syariah, while the Farm Management training was facilitated by KitaBisa.org. This session focused on improving farmers' understanding of climate index-based risk protection schemes and more structured and sustainable farm management.
On the third day, January 9, 2026, participants received technical training on coffee cultivation, from seedling sowing to pre-harvest pruning practices, delivered by Ade Sayuman. The session then continued with a presentation by Wahid on post-harvest coffee processing and packaging, aimed at improving the quality of the harvest and adding value to farmers' coffee products.
This activity was organized by the West Java BPP AP2SI (Association of Insurance Companies in Indonesia) as the technical field organizer. This program is designed as a long-term program, not just the initial training. Going forward, participants who have completed the Training of Trainers (ToT) will serve as facilitators for further training for 180 Parametric Insurance Program recipients in the Cikawao and Sukarame areas.
In addition, this program also includes plans to build nursery houses in each farmer group, as a strategic step to ensure the availability of quality coffee seeds and support the sustainability of social forestry-based coffee farming businesses.
